So named because of its popularity in the Russian Czarist empire, few
beers have a more potent flavor and alcohol level. Our Imperial Stout requires a lengthy
aging time, and patience is rewarded by remarkable smoothness; however, if sampled early,
its alcohol strength is warming and sharp. It is a medium dry style and is aggressively
hopped to maintain a balance with the high malt content, yielding a very malty beer when
properly aged - 9 months to 1 year. Black patent malt provides a pronounced roasted or
charcoal flavor and smoky aromatics. English hops lend further complexity to the palate.
Don't be alarmed by the high bittering rate, when this is adaquately aged, it will be
extremely malty. AND if you don't keep a 12 pack around for 4-5 years, you will never
know just how good beer can be.
